A standard volleyball court is rectangular in shape and measures 18m long and 9m wide. In addition, 9 m high free space above the site is required. Outside the playing area on each side there should be free zones (safety zones) with a width of more than 3 meters.
Among the most preferred types of coverage for open areas for playing volleyball are the following:
- Short pile height artificial grass
- Polyurethane coating (rubber crumb)
- Hardcovering
Volleyball court equipment includes:
- Poles for a grid about 3-4 m high
- Netting
- Lighting
